Beautiful sunset

Published by Kris Crocker under Kris' Forecast Focus

republic-sunset.jpg

My e-mail in-box is loaded with beautiful sunset shots.  I got this one from Sara and David Brown.  Sara writes: “The recent sunsets have been spectacular.  This one was taken Saturday Nov. 15th in Republic, looking southwest from my porch.”  That’s quite a view, Sara!  Thanks for the great picture.

Osprey Nest ON FIRE!

Published by Kris Crocker under Kris' Forecast Focus

osprey-nest-fire-one.jpg

Here’s are some dramatic Pics of the Night from Rita in the Nine Mile Falls area.  She took them a few minutes before dusk today.  She writes “The fire department responded and they called out Avista.  Thank Heaven MOTHER NATURE was on their side today.”  While today’s rain helped put out the fire, Rita says it was probably the heavy rain that caused the nest to sag into the electrical wires in the first place.  Thanks for the AWESOME pictures, Rita!

MORE SNOW, in the Pic of the Night

Published by Kris Crocker under Kris' Forecast Focus

2face11_05.jpg

This pretty scene is from, once again, Derrick Hansen up on Mt. .  He writes “received 4″ at 4,500′ on Mt. .  Two face sure looks good with snow on it!! Snowplows are in operation.”  There’s more snow to come in the forecast, and not just in the mountains.  Don’t be surprised if you see a few flakes at your house on Thursday, and then the rain returns.

Snow on Mt. Spokane!

Published by Kris Crocker under Kris' Forecast Focus

mtspokane.JPG

This was the lovely scene on Mt. Tuesday morning.  Thanks to Derrick Hansen for e-mailing this today.  This was the first measurable snowfall of the season.  About three to four inches fell on the mountain above 5,000 feet, and there is more on the way.   With a VERY active track for the next several days, we can at least think about a Thanksgiving opening at Mt. Ski and Snowboard Park.

Raking is fun, after all

Published by Kris Crocker under Kris' Forecast Focus

I’d been openly lamenting (on the air and off), the fact that I had to spend the weekend raking.  It actually turned out to be a lot of fun.  Also, I had a lot of help.  All three Crocker girls, and my sweet neighbor boy, Matthew, chipped in.  My husband, Jerry, actually did about 90%  of the raking.  With this week’s rains, next weekend’s de-leafing of my lawn won’t be as much fun.    Maybe Jerry won’t mind doing 100%?

Dani and Matthew bag leaves…

Gabby actually looks like she’s doing a GREAT job, even though the rake is twice her size…

Pic of the Night: a different kind of art at the MAC

Published by Kris Crocker under Kris' Forecast Focus

mac-leaves.jpg

Now this is an office with a view!  Jill Strom, the Public Relations Coordnator for the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC), e-mailed this beautiful scene.  Jill writes: “I am fortunate enough to have this view out of my office window!  Browne’s Addition is so beautiful this time of year.”  Enjoy those leaves while they last, Jill.  I’m afraid Tuesday’s winds will shake most of the leaves from area trees.  We’ll still have your picture.  Send your pictures to krisc@kxly.com.

Happy Halloween with the Crocker Girls

Published by Kris Crocker under Kris' Forecast Focus

crocker-halloween-2.jpg

The babies were MUCH more interested in eating their candy than posing for the camera.  From left: Chicken Gabby, Bunny Dani, and Little Mermaid Sophie.

It was a GREAT night for trick-or-treaters across the Inland Northwest.  The rain stopped and the blanket of clouds kept evening temperatures in the 40s and 50s.  There were throngs of neighborhood kids canvassing my street in search of candy.  I counted more than 70 trick-or-treaters knocking on my door, which is the most I’ve had in years.
