- Mike Gonzalez anchors Good Morning Northwest each weekday, alongside Kalae Chock and Mark Peterson. He began his television career in Columbia, Missouri, while attending the Missouri School of Journalism.
Mike comes to KXLY from Omaha, Nebraska, where he was an anchor and reporter. While in Omaha, Mike was recognized by the Associated Press for his breaking news coverage of a massive oil fire. Previously, Mike worked as an anchor and reporter in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he won an AP award for his series on the Lincoln Saltdogs minor league baseball.
Mike is a graduate of North Carolina State University. He was a standout pitcher for the Wolfpack baseball team, and later played for the minor league Allentown Ambassadors. Mike had also been teammates with current Seattle Mariner Raul Ibanez while playing at Miami-Dade Community College. An arm injury ended Mike's baseball career and set him on a new path toward journalism.
Mike has been happily married to his wife for ten years. They have two children. Mike's wife is a graduate of Eisenhower High School in Yakima and the family is excited to be finally be living in Washington.
