Today is History

It’s hard to sum up what gets news people so excited on Election Day. Thankfully, CNN did it for us. The network took out a full page ad in today’s Times. Here’s the text:

There is a moment, a simple moment, before history gets recorded.

Before it goes in the books.

Before it appears as a question on a game show.

Or, on a midterm exam.

A moment right before the headline is written.

There is a moment when history lives in the present.

When we can watch it unfold in real time, right before our eyes.

And we can all assume our place in it.

Some people live for history

We live for the moment just before.

Hmmm? Interesting. A point in history. Is it 1 pm on July 3rd, 1863 (Pickets Charge would begin shortly thereafter). Maybe it’s 7:55 am on Dec 7th, 1941 and we’ll be in a full scale war within 2 hours. To CNN, God Forbid a woman becomes vice president tonight. They had another history in mind.

“CNN…when it’s just too damn hard to think objectively”

Oh, I didn’t vote for McCain either. A curse on both houses..

Are you kidding me ! They chose who won the state before a 1% precinct was even counted. Go back to popular vote not the electoral college who are elected(payed off) like most of congress. You are right we are in for a change better get ready to fight for our rights and our American flag!!!!!!!!! Oh by the way I am proud to say I voted for JOHN MCCAIN and SARAH PALIN ( a women can work and take care of our kids, trust me we’ve done for hundreds of years).

This post was not intended to support CNN or project my thoughts about the network… it was to describe what it’s like for the media to cover ALL elections, especially one with as many historic possibilities as this one (first black president, first female vp, oldest president, etc)

But Melissa, they never wrote that for any other election. Do you remember in 1994 when Republicans won the mid term elections?

Thats where Foley bit the dust. I have always been proud of the fifth congressional district for walking the walk. I think we would have been served well if a lot of incumbants were thrown out of both parties last Tuesday…..especially those on the house and senate banking comittees.

CNN and others said in 1994 that the nation and voters were like 2-year olds having a temper tantrum.

Did you hear ANY thing like that during this election?
