By the opposition’s sniping you know the choice was brilliant

The selection of Alaska Governor as ’s running mate has shaken up the 2008 campaign for president.

It obviously stunned the Obama campaign. A spokesman issued the following statement within moments of the announcement on Friday:

“Today, put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.”

Obviously this political hack didn’t mention that Palin is a well-respected governor, but consider that being mayor of a town of 9,000 is decidedly more actual governing experience than brings to the table.

Then there was the following observation from New York Senator Chuck Schumer:

“After the great success of the Democratic convention, the choice of is surely a Hail Mary pass. It is a real role of the dice and shows how , Karl Rove et al realize what a strong position the Obama- team and Democrats in general are in…in this election.”

Schumer railed on:

“Certainly the choice of Palin puts to rest any argument about inexperience on the Democratic team and while Palin is a fine person, her lack of experience makes the thought of her assuming the presidency troubling.”

Schumer, of course, finds no problems with his party’s presidential candidate’s qualifications, even though his resume is clearly thinner by far.

No matter how Democrats try to dismiss the choice of , did what failed to do. He offered the millions of women voters in America, recognition that they matter, and a choice they would not otherwise have had in November.

So the only thing that McCain or Obama can do to show ‘the women voters of America’ that they matter is to select a woman for his VP?
It is far more obvious that this is a token gesture by McCain, because certainly his voting record for the last 8 years doesn’t show it. His near 90 % voting with the worst President we have ever suffered through, certainly could not give women hope. The women of America can not want another Bush term.

As a conservative woman who was less than thrilled with the idea of John McCain as our nominee, but even more leery of Barack Obama, I am positively thrilled with Sarah Palin as McCain’s pick. Unlike many politicians she practices what she preaches-we have seen that in her decision to bring her beautiful baby boy into the world even after learning he had down syndrome. I believe she is a great role model and she has run a state! Obama’s qualifications pale compared to hers, I do not consider voting “present” a number of times showing leadership or good judgement. I believe Gov. Palin has shown both of these along with a good moral compass in standing up to members of her own party. I worry about the future of our children with an Obama presidency as he has clearly shown he has absolutely no regard whatsoever for those that are unable to defend themselves

I am thrilled with the choice of Sarah Palin by John McCain. I have watched her for about 6 months and have admired her strength and am proud of her accomplishments in a very political arena. Obviously Obama pales in her shadow or he would not be comparing his dismal record of running a campaign to her stellar service as governor of Alaska. She has stood on her principles for her state and done it all in spite of the political machine. She is what us working mothers, wives and breadwinners are in america. Do not count us out as voters, we know a real woman when we see her and she has arrived!!! Congratulations Sarah Palin!!

I’m pleasantly pleased by McCain’s VP choice. From what I’ve seen of her work in Alaska, I expect great things from her as VP of the country. Her state loves her for all the right reason. Great choice.
