All of the above is just so much campaign rhetoric…….

I’m Mike Fitzsimmons with commentary on 920-KXLY…….

President Barack Obama will travel to four states this week to tout his “all of the above” energy policies.  Obama will travel to Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Ohio.    Most of these are swing states that the President needs if he is to be re-elected in November.  Of course the President will not risk speaking before regular folks.   His appearances will be before select,  wildly supportive followers, mostly labor unions and party faithful, but he won’t be fooling the nation.

This trip is an attempt to blunt the growing anger that Americans are feeling as gasoline prices soar and President Obama dithers.   Close to 70% of Americans say he could do something about this, but he won’t.   One of the stops the president plans to make is in Cushing, Oklahoma.   There is a crude oil
storage hub there and it happens to presently hold a large quantity of oil that the President will point to as evidence that we don’t need to open up new oil drilling because we have a glut already.   What he won’t disclose is that the oil is stockpiled because the U.S. hasn’t built a new oil refinery facility in 35 years.  He won’t mention that the EPA and radical environmental regulations cooked up solely by the Democratic Party have made increased refining capacity virtually impossible in America.   Were that to change, we would have cheap gasoline.   As it stands, the oil companies can’t refine it, so they sell the crude overseas.

Don’t be fooled.   The so-called “all of the above” energy policy offers only lip service to oil and natural gas.   Obama has no plans to develop either of those options so long as he is in the White House.  He wants these options to become ever more expensive so that eventually Americans will reject them in favor of  the currently prohibitively expensive green energy alternatives that the President champions.    Remember, if you want to know what the administration really believes,  look not at what President Obama says.   Look to what he does.
