Americans want limited government just like the founding fathers………

Liberal Democrats believe that government should play a major role in the personal lives of American citizens. This idea is inconsistent with American tradition.   It is not a theme in the U.S. Constitution.    Such government intrusion in our daily lives finds its origin in Europe.   That’s where the welfare state got started.   The European way fascinates our President.   He thinks we should be like Europe.   He thinks that those of us who resist ever larger government intrusion are fighting against America’s inevitable future, a future he wants to accelerate.

It must frustrate President Obama that most Americans don’t agree with him.   They like Barack Obama.  He’s a swell guy, but they don’t buy his divisive rhetoric that America’s rich are the reason why we’re in economic trouble.    At least 64% of them, according to a new Gallup poll, believe that what President Obama is peddling, ever bigger government, is the real danger.   The majority of Americans see adopting the European model as the wrong approach.   They also know that even Europe can’t afford it anymore.   The American tradition of freedom, individuality and free market capitalism is the model most Americans prefer.   It is also the model that the President claims has never worked.

The U.S. Constitution, the Federalist Papers and the founding documents of this nation, are filled with the admonition that big government poses a danger. The whole concept of checks and balances was designed to prevent government from becoming too large and intruding into citizen’s lives.   Perhaps we have we forgotten that ours is supposed to be a limited government.   Perhaps too many of us have been lured into accepting a greater government role, so long as we receive desired benefits from government.   President Obama would like to lure more of us into this false sense of security.   Let us hope that the majority will put a stop to that.
