blog About to spend the weekend with my high school girlfriends. Way excited about this. Four friends from back in the day. We’re all married now, all have kids, we live all over the state. But, we’ve made it a point to meet at least once a year to keep in touch.

This year, it’s a slumber party. Nothing fancy, just a chance to hang out on the couch, order pizza, drink wine, watch movies and talk. How fun is that? When you’re a mom with little ones, a night like this sounds awesome. Hence the reason, we’re all looking forward to it.

I’m proud of my friends for making it a point to stay in touch. It’s easy to get consumed with our own lives, husbands, kids, work, new towns, new relationships. But, I think we all recognize the importance of girlfriends, especially girlfriends who knew you when.

I swear, we’re all exactly the same as we were in high school. But, we’re also all very different from one another. Thus, I have to admit, I don’t know if I met them today that we’d have the same relationships, don’t even know if we’d be more than just acquaintances. I think that’s what makes us more like sisters than friends. We love each other because we have no other choice. We’ve known each other too long not to.
