Mike Gonzalez anchors Good Morning Northwest each weekday alongside Nadine Woodward and Mark Peterson. Mike also hosts the nationwide show "En La Cocina" (In The Kitchen) and is the founder of the Hispanic Food Network. Mike began his television career in Raleigh, NC as the host of the NC State Sports Magazine and voice of Wolfpack Baseball. Mike comes to KXLY from Omaha, Nebraska, where he was an anchor and reporter. While in Omaha, Mike was recognized by the Associated Press for his breaking news coverage of a massive oil fire. Previously, Mike worked as an anchor and reporter in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he won an AP award for his series on the Lincoln Saltdogs minor league baseball. Mike is a graduate of North Carolina State University and also attended the Missouri School of Journalism as a graduate student. He was a standout pitcher for the Wolfpack baseball team, and later played for the minor league Allentown Ambassadors. Mike is the past president of The Hispanic Business Professional Association of Spokane. Mike was awarded the Latino Hero of the year Award in 2010 from Asuris Insurance for his work in the Hispanic Community in Eastern Washington.
